Nightingale Ballarat - UDIA award winner!

Nightingale Ballarat is the winner of the Urban Development Industry Association (UDIA) Environmental Excellence Award for 2022.

Fossil fuel free, homes at Nightingale Ballarat achieve an average 8 Star NatHERs energy efficiency rating. Every home is cross-ventilated with access to open-air walkways and openable windows. Materials are robust, recycled and locally sourced wherever possible, including windows and joinery made in Ballarat.

A high-energy efficient CO2 heat pump powers shared hydronic heating and hot water systems, coupled with a shared solar and an embedded energy network and extensive re-use of recycled water.

Thank you to Nightingale Housing, Breathe Architecture, H. Troon Construction and the wider Nightingale Ballarat consultant team.

And most importantly thank you to Ballarat for embracing centrally located sustainable medium density housing! As the first apartment building for more than 10 years in the city’s centre, Nightingale Ballarat is a great example of how a well-designed community centric building can change the narrative for medium density living in a regional context.
