Hygge x Women's Property Initiative

Women’s Property Initiative (WPI) will acquire nine new homes in Ballarat and Hepburn, providing affordable rental housing for vulnerable women in these communities.

The acquisition will include homes in two of Hygge’s ‘future projects’ including five apartments in the Bakery Hill project designed by 6 Degrees Architects and four two-storey townhouses in the Middleton Field eco village project designed by Breathe Architecture.

All of the homes will be carbon-neutral in operation and exceed minimum energy performance standards.

WPI is a not-for-profit community housing provider who have been creating new beginnings for women and children at risk of homelessness for the past 25 years.

Approaching the task of providing housing first, WPI prides itself on managing a portfolio of well located, well designed and sustainable homes including a mixture of apartments, townhouses and homes to cater for the diverse needs of the women and children housed by WPI.

Alongside the provision of permanent affordable housing, WPI also offer access to support networks and ongoing advocacy, building secure futures for women and children in need.

Hygge Property entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with WPI in 2020 to work towards the future delivery of these essential new homes in regional centres.
