Topping Out at Lyons Place

The Hygge project team alongside builder Figurehead Construction recently ‘topped out’ Lyons Place to mark the completion of the building’s structural phase.

A significant milestone for Lyons Place, the event was also an opportunity to celebrate the hard work of the project and construction teams and thank the people involved in bringing the project to life.

What is topping out?

A long-held tradition in the construction industry, a ‘topping out’ or ‘topping off’ ceremony marks the successful completion of the structural framework of a new building.

Often a significant tree is placed on the highest point of the building during the event to bring good luck and prosperity to the building and its future occupants.

For the Lyons Place ceremony, the native Eucalyptus radiata or Narrow-leafed Peppermint Gum, known for its peppermint scent was chosen to be placed at the top of the building - as one of the trees to be planted within the landscaped courtyard at Lyons Place.
