The Village - award finalist!

The Village in Daylesford has been included as a top 3 finalist in the 2024 REA Excellence Awards for Excellence in Sustainability.

The award is intended to recognise those leading the charge for a sustainable future through business practices, high-impact sustainable projects, or development. 

Guiding decisions from the project's inception, sustainability in its many expressions, has shaped The Village as a much-needed smaller footprint and highly efficient townhouse housing offering in Daylesford.

The Village project sits within Middleton Field - a new neighbourhood in Daylesford also being developed by Hygge Property. The neighbourhood is highly walkable, promoting human-powered transport, through active connection to existing local amenities.

The project seeks to not only prove that carbon-neutral can be achieved in an aesthetically pleasing way but also encourage smaller footprint townhouse living in regional places like Daylesford.

With a talented and passionate project team including well known sustainable architect Breathe and landscape architect Acre, an extensive range of initiatives will be delivered through both built form and landscape design contributing to the project’s overall environmental performance.

Working towards a net zero future - homes have been designed by Breathe to achieve a minimum 7.5-star NatHERs energy efficiency rating, including passive solar design, double glazed thermally broken windows and highly efficient fittings and fixtures.

All verges and nature strips have been designed by Arce to host seeded wildflower meadows rather than water demanding lawn. The meadows will provide biodiversity in fauna, habitat and food for pollinating insects, improve soil health and carbon sequestration.
