Team news: Introducing Jess

Senior Development Manager Jess made the move to Geelong with her family a few years ago. She recently joined the Hygge team so she could work locally.

Tell us a little bit about yourself

Born and raised in Melbourne, I now proudly call Geelong home. Having lived here (with my husband and 2 young girls) since 2019, I like to think of myself as a local now. In my down time I love exploring the local region and especially visiting hiking tracks in the You Yangs and wineries in the Moorabool.  This is of course juggled amongst the girls weekend sport and parties.

What’s your role with Hygge and what attracted you to working with Hygge?

I’m a Senior Development Manager at Hygge responsible for three built form projects across Geelong, Ballarat and Daylesford. I came across Hygge Property when driving past the Bottleworks site in Geelong. At the time I was living in Geelong but working in Melbourne and was always interested in making a change to a developer with a regional focus and of course with less of a commute. Hygge share similar values to myself and help me to balance family and work life, so far, it’s been a great partnership.

Why and how did you get into property?

My dad works in the property industry, so this is what initially attracted me, however, as soon as I got my own taste of development, I knew I’d chosen the right path.

What do you like best about living in Geelong?

Being a part of a community and minimal traffic – I love the idea of being able to jump into the car and allow 10 minutes to get anywhere! I’ve made some great new friendships, the girls love their school and we’ve now bought a block of land to build our dream home!

What are your favourite coffee/lunch/wine/dinner/retail spots in Geelong?

Kilgour St Grocer in South Geelong for sure, the best coffee and Bahn Mi. I also love Geelong Cellar Door on Lt Malop Place for wine & cheese. The whole Lt Malop precinct is fantastic and continues to grow with new food/drink offerings opening all the time.

For shopping – you can’t go past Pakington St in Newton!
