Middleton Field welcomes The Block

Channel 9 have officially announced its 2025 season of The Block will be filmed in Daylesford with five new sustainable pavilion-style homes to be built at the eastern entry to the regional Victorian town, as part of its popular TV series.

Following a meeting between developer Hygge Property and the show’s Executive Producer Julian Cress in 2022, detailed plans evolved alongside The Block team for the new homes in Middleton Field embracing modern architecture considerate to Daylesford’s landscape.

The larger architecturally designed homes to be delivered by The Block next year will round out the Middleton Field neighbourhood framing the eastern entry to town.

Since Hygge first started planning a new community in Daylesford, locals and the municipality were clear around a desire to see a mix of sustainable housing options within Middleton Field.

The neighbourhood already includes a series of 31 small footprint, stylish eco-townhouses designed by highly regarded, sustainable architect Breathe – now selling off-the-plan as The Village.

Excitingly, the next release of land at Middleton Field dubbed the ‘Market Collection’ for its 3-minute walk time to the local Sunday Market is on the horizon. Located off Raglan Street, these homesites (ranging between 600sqm – 900sqm) now include the unique opportunity to be neighbours with a home from The Block.

In a recent statement to Nine Entertainment The Block team shared how excited they are to celebrate the Daylesford community in its 2025 season.

We…try to film as much of our show focusing on the local community and whether that be renovating a community project, or just being able to showcase great local artisans and businesses, is something that is a real hallmark for The Block.

As well as being able to achieve a unique mix of housing within Middleton Field, Hygge are also thrilled about the prospect of generating activity for local Daylesford businesses as part of the filming of the popular TV show.

Local coffee institution Cliffy’s Emporium (located on Raglan Street and short walk from the Middleton Field neighbourhood) recently shared with Domain their excitement about The Block enticing visitors to explore the hidden treasures of Daylesford.

For us, it’ll mean that it’ll attract more people to the town, boosting the local economy…Over that period of time, we’ll be able to give our staff more hours, and I suppose, it’ll put Daylesford in the spotlight … it’s very exciting…

…So often when people come to Daylesford to visit, they’ll only go to the main street but there are small businesses in and around Daylesford, [and] I think filming here will certainly benefit more businesses.

With the first homes already under construction, the project team for Middleton Field are excited about continuing the delivery of its sustainable neighbourhood in Daylesford now officially including the 5 new The Block homes - a welcome addition to the layered fabric of this unique regional hub.
