The Hygge office by Breathe

Leading sustainable architect Breathe worked with Hygge Property and Nightingale Housing on the recently completed Nightingale Ballarat building. The project also included a new ground floor office space for Hygge.

Breathe has a reputation for robust, elegant and highly efficient architectural solutions which reconcile ecological and social influences within the context of the prevailing economic climate. They work to create meaningful and accessible residential and commercial spaces by adopting a holistic and sustainable perspective in all projects.

The overarching Breathe approach is reflected in the Hygge office design. Materials are robust, recycled and were locally sourced wherever possible, including windows and joinery made in Ballarat. With zero gas, the office is powered by solar and 100% GreenPower and housed in the Nightingale Ballarat building which achieves an 8+ Star NatHERS rating.

The Hygge team enjoy the social connection and vibrancy which comes from being surrounded by the Nightingale residents and patrons of Earls Deli next door. The layout of the office allows for connection and collaboration between staff.

Central to the design was the Hygge ethos towards ‘build less, give more’. Locally sourced and natural materials prevail, enabling a healthier built environment.
