Hygge at the Ballarat Marathon
In only its second year, the Ballarat Marathon has already made a name for itself on the Australian running calendar. With perfect autumn conditions for racing, the event has scenic courses through Ballarat’s historic streets and along Lake Wendouree.
Open to both elite and recreational athletes, several members of the Hygge team participated in events across the weekend.
The highlight of the weekend was Hygge’s part time assistant Development Manager - Darcy Williams competing in the Mens Elite 5km event. Darcy finished with a strong run in a fast, competitive field through Ballarat’s central streets.
On Saturday afternoon, many Hygge families participated in the Mile event, with a big turnout of children proudly crossing the finish line on Sturt Street (see below images including snap with local legend and race ambassador Steve Moneghetti).
On Sunday morning, the Hygge marketing team ran well with Laura van Dyk successfully completing the full marathon and Tennille Haines running a well-paced half marathon. The Hygge team was also joined on Sunday by several members from Lyons Place builder Figurehead Construction finishing the half-marathon and 10KM events.
All agreed the course, atmosphere and crowd were amazing, with the team looking forward to building on their results in 2026.
