Coffee, sandwiches and good times - Earls opens!
Taking its name from the original inventor of the sandwich, the Earl of Sandwich John Montagu, Earls Deli is the newest sandwich and coffee shop in central Ballarat. You’ll find it at the base of Nightingale Ballarat on Davey Street.
The sandwich shop has a distinctly Ballarat flavour, being opened by locals Joshua Wood, Teddy Powlett, Drew Harry and Liam Downes and using locally sourced produce – bread from 1816 Bakehouse, meats from Sinclair Meats and Salt Kitchen Charcuterie, and milk and butter from Inglenook Dairy. Down the track they hope to stock some wine from Wayward Winery.
While the menu will rotate consistently, there are some strong favourites at the moment, including the sausage and egg muffin, a fresh roast chicken and salad with tarragon dressing, and a range of hot sandwiches like the meatball sub and chicken schnitzel sandwich.
Earls will also stock basics including coffee, bread, butter and milk for Nightingale residents and other passers-by.
The opening adds more vibrancy to the Davey Street location, which alongside the Nightingale Ballarat residents, also houses the regional office for Hygge Property.
