Ballarat Central named a Hot Suburb for 2023

A list with the ‘Hottest 100 Suburbs in the Country’ for 2023 has been released by realestate.com.au.

Compiled from the insights of a panel of industry experts, the inaugural Hot 100 identifies Australia’s best suburbs with real estate prospects defying broader market trends.

This year, two Ballarat suburbs - Ballarat Central and Alfredton - have been included in the list with the panel noting that ‘[a]ll eyes are on the Victorian town of Ballarat since it was named Australia’s fastest-growing inland city and one of the country’s most liveable regional centres’.

Ballarat Central’s status as a walkable neighbourhood and its reputation for good schools and parks bolsters its appeal, while Alfredton features for its affordability. Other key factors for inclusion in the list included access to amenity, family appeal, investment prospects, population growth and demographic change.

As one of four regional hubs set to host events for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, infrastructure investment and broader improvements are on the horizon for Ballarat and other regional centres.
